Grass Lake School PBIS Information
At Grass Lake School, it is our intent to create a more positive culture in our school, family, and community by means of teaching consistent language and expectations for school behavior. We believe that by helping students practice good behavior, we can build a school community where all students are immersed in an environment where they WILL succeed and rise to their highest potential. Our system, known as Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS), ensures a consistent framework is in place for all students to address both positive and problem behaviors using a data driven decision making process.
As a part of the PBIS program, clear expectations for behaviors are posted in all areas of the school. Staff teach and revisit these expectations throughout the school year. As a result of this program, students gain a clear understanding of how they are expected to conduct themselves and a clear understanding of the consequences for choosing not to follow expected behaviors. Positive feedback and rewards, re-teaching and mentoring are used to encourage positive choices in order to ensure a school environment which focuses on instruction.
