Our Pre-K is a high-quality preschool program that is designed to foster pre-academic, social-emotional, speech-language, and motor development in children. Grass Lake Pre-K is a blended preschool program operated by Grass Lake School and Emmons School District serving all preschoolers, including preschoolers who have delays in their development.

• Our program is taught by licensed Early Childhood educators with certifications in general education, special education, and English language learner (ELL) instruction, supported by a team of teaching assistants and specialists, including a speech and language pathologist, occupational and physical therapists, and a school psychologist.

• The curriculum is based on The Creative Curriculum©, a research-backed framework that guides instruction. We also incorporate additional programs such as Jolly Phonics and Handwriting Without Tears, which focus on developing early literacy skills.

• Children engage in both teacher-guided lessons and self-directed exploration across 11 interest areas: blocks, dramatic play, toys and games, art, library, discovery, sand & water, music & movement, cooking, technology, and outdoor play.

• Ongoing, formative assessments monitor each child’s progress and skill development. The school environment includes access to a playground, library, indoor activity space, and assistance from upper-grade students, providing a well-rounded learning experience.

• Our program prepares students for a smooth transition into a full-day kindergarten program.
